Phoenix (Palmae)

Canariensis, Canarian palm
Native to the Canary Islands, along with oleanders, it is the plant that characterizes Mediterranean seaside resorts. Very hardy, resistant to salt and sandy soils, it has a cylindrical trunk about 2 meters in diameter and a very spreading crown with lanceolate leaves up to 6 meters long. It produces yellow-brown fruits clustered in panicles that hang from the branches, and golden brown ovoid fruits.
