One of the most widespread plants in the Mediterranean basin, it is the hedge plant par excellence. It is a large evergreen shrub with leathery, oblong, lanceolate, wavy leaves of a glossy green color. It produces creamy yellow spring flowers followed by numerous black berries.
Besides being used as an ornamental plant, it is highly sought after for its aromatic qualities.
