Prunus Tree (Rosaceae)

A genus comprising numerous species. Native to the Northern Hemisphere, it is a plant of great ornamental and social value. Among the species in this genus are four main subgenera, among which the fruit-bearing Prunus species stand out, producing the majority of the edible fruit.

• Cerasifera Pissardii: Native to the United States, it is a deciduous tree with a purple trunk and dense foliage of small, oval, deep purple leaves. Before they appear, the tree is completely covered in pure pink flowers, creating a stunning visual effect. In late summer, small, rare, edible red plums appear. Widely used for driveways, public spaces, and private gardens, it thrives in all soil types.

• Kanzan serrulata, flowering cherry : This is the most common and beautiful of the flowering cherry trees. It has bright green deciduous leaves and flowers that appear in early spring along with the leaves, composed of many deep pink petals.
