Schinus (Anacardiaceae)

Soft, false pepper, pink pepper
Native to South America, it is an evergreen with flexible branches, similar in shape to that of the willow. It has alternate, dark green pinnate leaves, and blooms in spring in panicles of small yellow flowers. In summer and autumn, it produces small, spherical pink-red fruits, grouped in long stalks.
Clusters that, like the leaves, give off a strong peppery odor. The trunk is irregular, knotty, and has many fissures. Its fruits are harvested for the commercialization of pink pepper.
